My fun Bday...Look Of The Day!

April 4th was my birthday and I had so much fun hanging out with my friends and family! My bf surprised me with a wine tasting and Zoe's lunch at Vin Master. I just thought we were going for mani/pedis but after, we walked in here and all of my friends were there! Later, we had dinner with my family at Malabar. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pics becuase I was so busy eating the soooooo yummy food they have there. I love that place! We had cupcakes from Cupcake Delirium after dinner. My favorites was the Cookies and Cream. Here's what I wore :)

Yesterday was Easter and I had a great time hanging out with my family. We did an Easter egg hunt, relay race and scavenger hunt for the kids and they had a great time! This is what I wore.

I'm slacking...I haven't posted these in a few days and I forgot to do day 6 because it was boring : /

Day 4: Someone Who Makes You Happy. Ok, I cheated, these are lots of friends but they do make me happy. April 4th was my bday and I had a great time hanging out with them!

Day 5: Tiny. I was at the park and the day was almost over, the tiniest thing at the park was these ants.

Day 7: Shadow. Today I was at the tennis courts on this super sunny day.

Day 8: wallet. My wallet has a bunch of $1 bills (smh), old receipts and a movie watchers card :)

These are some of the boxes that I should be ashamed to have stacked up from all the online shopping I do. I keep them because I send my friends and family things all the time so i'm sure I'll use the boxes pretty soon! 

Turbans...A Love Hate Relationship.

LONG POST but with pics so don't hate me! 

If you're anything like me, you're excited that June Ambrose has her own show! I'm not unlike anyone else who noticed how cute and special she looks wearing her turbans. Obviously she didn't come up with the idea, as head wraps have been around for ages in African and Middle Eastern countries but she has certainly re-popularized the look. As the title suggests, I have a love/hate relationships with turbans. 

Ok, here's what I love...

     1. Turbans are really just scarves that you wrap around your head. I love scarves = I love turbans

     2. Accessories have always been a love of mine. Turbans = accessory = I love turbans

     3. I love color and patterns. Turbans come in tons of different pattern and colors = I love turbans

     4. I like trying new things with my hair. Wearing a turban on my hair = I love turbans

     5. I can be into some trendy things while they're around. Turbans are trendy = I love turbans

I hate turbans because:

     1. I don't want to look like I left the house with my wrap scarf on! 

That's it, that's the only reason. This hate purely comes from a place of envy, I'm envious of people who look cute wearing them and I think I'll look like I forgot to comb down my hair! This is a target ad and I don't want to look like this. As cute as this outfit is and as pretty as she is, her hair and turban look awful. 

So maybe I'll try it out and maybe take pics to see how I look, then I'll stick to the styles that look good on me. EVERYBODY can't wear everything...you have to be honest with yourself and say "Self, that is not cute."

I wear something like this to the pool and the beach every summer...but to me this doesn't count as a turban, I call this a headband. Wait...this may be my chance, I'll start calling them turbans and I'll be on trend!

So this is my favorite way June Ambrose wears hers. It's kind of a faux hawk and looks so chic on her. Realistically, unless I'm fresh from the shower, after washing my hair, I probably won't be wearing this style.

I will most likely do this type of thing, it's def more me and a look that I think would fit my style.  

I will probably make most of my turbans headbands with old T's that I don't want to wear anymore. If you're like me and you like a good DIY, you can see how easy it would be. If you have no time for making your own or don't trust yourself with a sewing machine :) beauty supply stores have turbans, scarves etc. that you can use. Or, you can buy from June Ambrose's line.

Look Of The Day!

Lazy Sunday but it was so nice out, I had to get out of the house. So I made up some errands and decided that Target was on my imaginary list. Good thing I left pretty early cuz it ended up raining later. I also saw the Tyler Perry move (I know I'm really late) Good Deeds. It was just ok. I've already expressed my love for maxi dresses :) This is what I wore.

Let me introduce you all to a super cool, sweet style having, Miley Cyrus loving, girl named Reagan. Originally from Arizona, Reagan has a style all her own and the attitude to go with it! So, Reagan is in a new relationship with Agate and Druzy jewelry :) She sent me this picture and I immediately had a crush! I love how vintage they look, like a traveler from the 70's who loves rock and soul music and avidly uses the peace sign. I want.

A few days later, I was at Target (go figure) and found the motherload! There are, of course, different price points for the same look and I'm planning to do some damage at Target this week.

These Nina Nguyen necklaces are soooo cute. I wear gold about 99% of the time so they're right up my alley plus what's not to love about a chunky pendant...in colorful rock form! If price is not object, then the sky's the limit from this collection.

Look Of The Day!

This day was a few weeks ago and it was a super nice day. After grabbing lunch at Pinky's I just wanted to finish reading The Mockingjay...anywhere outside. I grabbed my favorite bottle of wine and hit the roof of my building to soak up the sun and the breeze. (btw, have any of you read the books or seen the movie? What did you think?)

 I like this shirt because it's roomy and the proportions are different from a normal tshirt. These jeans go with literally everything. You could get dressed with eyes closed if you have army green pants. Headbands are a staple for me since I don't straighten my hair a lot and I also don't wear it out very often. For everyday wear, headbands with a bun or ponytail is my goto look.

Look Of The Day!

So, I'm back like I never left! It's been a while since my last post and I have so much that I want to share :) I'll start with what I wore to my dear friend Nadja's engagement party. I'm so happy for her PLUS, I'll be a bridesmaid!

Maxi skirts and dresses are all I want to wear now so when you see repeats, don't kill me! I love the flowy  details on the front of this skirt and the sweater is lightweight so i'll be wearing it into summer. I used to shop at Express ALL THE TIME in high school and a bit in college. I haven't been in that store in forever but the other week, I walked past and they had so many brights, it drew me in and I went crazy. I think I'll be revisiting soon to see what new stuff I might like.
