My 10 Year High School Reunion

Last weekend I had my 10 year High School reunion from West Charlotte...the best high school in history. I can't believe it's been that long since I've graduated from high school. It's pretty awesome that I'm still very close to my 2 best friends from high school and have a lot of the same friends. In case you're wondering, here are my 2 super amazing friends.

This is Danielle and her beautiful niece Z. She owns ZFL Dance Company. If you have kids that love to dance or do gymnastics or you're interested in taking adult dance or fitness classes, CALL THE NUMBER!

This is Jennifer and her super cute baby and puppy. She's a nurse and blogs HERE. She's the funniest person to be around and never takes herself too seriously. She's got a beautiful baby girl and has one on the way! She takes super cute pics of baby A like this!

Anyway, I'm very lucky to still have friends around that know my so well and when we all get together, it's like we never skipped a beat!

We had our reunion at the Blake Hotel in Charlotte and here's what I wore.

Top-Zara
Belt-Madewell
Skirt- 5/48
Shoes-Vince Camuto

Julia's Wedding!

One of my friends, Julia got married to the love of her life, Derrick, last weekend! She was beautiful and I had so much fun at the reception. Julia and I went to high school together so lots of my friends were in the wedding and invited to the wedding. That really made for a good reception. We danced until the DJ made us leave! Good Times!

I had the misfortune of running late and didn't get to grab my good camera before I left the house. I ended up with some shoddy iphone pics and some after the party, kinds sweaty pics of me after I got back home. Ehh, oh well...here's what I got.

So 2 nights before, I washed and air dried my hair.

The night before, I blow dried my hair using Tresemme heat tamer spray and this sample of Chocolat blow dry cream by Carol's Daughter. I could do a whole separate post on this stuff cuz I hated it so much. My hair felt really dry and tangled after I straightened it. When I tried to wash it out a few days later, I had to wash like three times and use a clarifying shampoo to get it out :/ Won't be using that anymore. If anybody has tried it and loves it, I will send you this bottle!

I use DDF oil free moisturizing dew which I love love love after washing my face. The urban decay naked skin is really good. Def my new favorite foundation. It's lightweight and buildable for medium to heavy coverage. My color is 9.0

I used a wand to curl my hair and this is the finished product a la Instagram.

Here I am with the lovely bride with my horrible iPhone 4 camera

Here's Julia looking amazing! This pic is one of her professional shots...obviously not taken with my stupid phone.

Here's how I looked afterwards...
My hair was completely sweaty and disgusting!

My hair was so bad when I got home :/ That means it was a fun reception!!

Half way through the reception, I put my hair in a top knot. I added the headband when i got home lol
My dress is by Blue Juice and my clutch is from Aldo Accessories.

Wedding Planning is Kinda Hard

Not unenjoyable...just hard because there's so much to do. I occupy most of my time searching for inspiration on the internet :) I like so many things so we'll see how they all come together. Either that or i'll just have a hodge podge wedding full of random things that I love that don't necessarily go together. If that's what I end up with, then I'll be happy with that too! Really the theme of my wedding is "I'm not gonna stress about anything". At the end of the day, I'm marrying the person that I love and all of my friends and family will be there to celebrate with me. I don't care (kinda) where it is and what shade of white I'm wearing. Ok, we all know that I care, but I'm just saying...I'm gonna be happy with whatever it shapes up to be.

Here are LOTS of ideas that I gathered from Internet Land...none of these are my original photos and I wish I could credit them all but they are randomly saved to my desktop and I won't bother finding the original source.

btw, i'm not sure what I like and don't like for my actually wedding yet. I like some elements in these pictures, but not always the actual thing. Let me know what you guys think!

I love the sweetheart neckline of this gown...I don't know if I would want to deal
with maybe having to pull up my dress all night in fear of my goods spilling out :)

This dress is so romantic and I'm all about that. My favorite part
is the scalloped detail of the lace in the back. Unfortunately, a bra wouldn't be
the easiest thing to put into a dress like this.

I love that this bride's whole back is out...the straps look really
dainty and feminine too. Of course, no bra would be of concern.
Pockets are a plus, for lipgloss :)

I don't actually like this dress, I just like that the straps are no fuss.

So here I am in a dress that i've dubbed, the Mummy Dress. I like the silhouette but all that ruching and extra fabric is just too much for me. It might be nice on someone else though.

I think the back is boring but the train is dramatic, which is cool...
minus the long tails of the bow.

I like this neckline but that's about it.

Forever Is A Very Long Time!

I am so happy and have been in complete bliss since Sunday because my then boyfriend proposed to me!! Of course I said yes and I've been relishing the possibilities of my life ever since.

So many things have changed in such a short time and I didn't know how people felt about their significant others until now. We've been together for a long time and I love him very much but since Sunday, my love for him has doubled. Like literally I can't stop smiling and doing nice things for him and making him food and laughing at his corny jokes. It really is nice to have someone that you know is on your side and supporting you all the time. I mean, I have an amazing family who supports me but they don't have a choice lol! He has a choice and chooses to be with me!

Anyway, enough of he mushy stuff, now to the style stuff. I LOVE my ring. That is all.

What I've Been Up To...

I've been neglectful of the blog because Instagram is soooo easy to use. I hope you're all following me on instagram: GStarMi, because I update there every day. Anywho, for those of you who don't have it, here's what I've been up to. For those of you that are already following me, this may be a bit of a repeat, but I promise, some new stuff is coming shortly!!

My roots were really dark and my at home stuff wasn't lifting like I wanted it to. Also, the back section of my hair was super dark because it never got sun and I only dye the front section when I do it.  So this was before I went to Aveda Institute to get it right. The results look exactly the same as all of my other pictures, just without the dark roots :)

This was a random night an I was going nowhere. I always use liquid liner to do a winged or cat eye but I drew on the bottom lashes this time and I loved it!

This is what the drawn on lashes look like from far away. It was pretty dark in my room and you know how iphones are, so it's kinda blurry but you get the idea. I'm sure i'll do it again and take a picture with my good camera soon.

This is my lunch date to this cute burger place in the Steel Creek area called BT's Burger Joint. I love that they have tater tots :) Jeans are from Madewell, top is from Marshalls, ballet flats by Repetto.

Every week I work in my family's garden, today I just picked what was ready so I didn't have lots to do.  I really enjoy gardening, it's hard work, especially here cuz it's so freakin hot! This dress is Central Park West and it's from Aritzia.

After all that hard work, I like to relax on the porch swing. It's really a good place for a nap!  This is what I look like without makeup :O

This is my Citrus Peach Summer Punch! I juiced oranges, lemons, peaches, basil and apples. So good and refreshing, even all of the kids loved it (after I picked out the pieces of basil lol)

This addiction is not new...I've been shopping at Ulta of course. What is new is my NYX addiction. I've been using NYX here and there for a few years but recently, everything I've tried, I love!

I got this little bag from TJ Maxx and I've been using it inside of my huge bags. I  put makeup, headphone, lotion etc in there so I don't loose them in the sea of things in a big bag. btw, I love what it says cuz it's all me :)

I went camping in West Virginia, Girl Scouts style lol! I had a great time...campfire, bunk beds, hot dogs,  nature and dranks of course!

The lake at the camp site had huge water toys in it, a zip line, a blog that launches you crazy high, water trampolines etc. This was the highlight for me!

I went to DC for my Howard friend, Joanne's, bachelorette party. We had sooo much fun! This was Saturday night as I was getting ready to go out. I keep getting questions about this case, it's by InCase and I got it from TJ Maxx. The top is by Gryphon New York.

On Sunday, we went to a pool party! These are some more of my Howard friends, Shakir and Cece <3

I've been hangin out with one of my nephews, while he's in town. His name is Brody and he's my sister's son. He's so funny to me! My sister was trying on clothes because she was going out of town so he decided to try on my pants! haha

I was watering the garden and the hose is broken so he decided to get himself all wet :)

This is during the heat wave...it was 104 degrees out so I was trying to stay inside as much as possible.

I've been making tons of smoothies cuz it's the perfect summer meal/snack. This one had spinach, yogurt, raspberries, blueberries and peaches.

Of course I've been juicing any and everything! I just juiced these apples to put in the smoothie.

I love these glasses from Urban Outfitters. Smoothie like a sir!

I'm still using this gel but I also tried out this Palmer's Edge Hold. It's like a super thick, less watery version of Jam.  You have to use the smallest bit or it'll look greasy.

Truthfully, I've also been drinking a lot and have subsequently gained 7 lbs. wtf? Ok, the next few weeks i'll be posting ONLY about working out! lol

Aaaahh, I love Voluspa candles, I got these from Anthropologie but you can also get them from
Nordstrom and Francesca's Collections.

Every time I make salmon, I always get asked for the recipe. This is the seasoning that I use, it's really yummy and has no salt so you can add as much as you want. I add olive oil, pepper, and season salt or old bay. Then bake for 15-20 min at 350 degrees and a foil packet.
